How to Play Chicken Road

Chicken Road offers an intuitive gameplay experience that's easy to learn but provides depth for strategic thinking. The objective is simple: be the first player to guide your chickens safely across the road. However, timing, risk assessment, and tactical card play make each game a unique challenge.

Setup

Each player selects a color and takes the corresponding chicken meeples. Place your chickens on the starting side of the road. Shuffle the deck of cards and deal five cards to each player. Place the remaining deck face-down as a draw pile.

Taking Turns

On your turn, you'll roll the dice to determine the traffic pattern for that round. Then you can play cards from your hand to move your chickens, manipulate traffic, or even sabotage your opponents. Each card has unique effects that can dramatically change the game state.

Crossing the Road

Moving your chickens requires careful timing. The road has multiple lanes with varying traffic patterns. You must navigate these hazards by playing movement cards and special action cards. If a vehicle hits your chicken, it returns to the starting position!

Special Abilities

Each player's chickens have unique special abilities that can be activated during the game. These powers range from extra movement, traffic manipulation, protection from vehicles, or even the ability to hitch rides on passing cars. Strategic use of these abilities is key to victory.

Winning the Game

The first player to successfully move all their chickens across the road and reach the safety of the other side wins the game! Alternative game modes include point-based scoring for timed play or cooperative variants where players work together against increasingly difficult traffic patterns.
